Strategic Climate Planning
Our programs are research-based, results-driven, people-friendly
What is this workshop about?
Many organisations plan and conduct surveys to measure the current state of the organisation’s climate – ‘what it’s like to work here’. However, a survey is in itself an intervention and can impact the climate of the organisation. There could be unintended consequences from such a survey, particularly if staff members are uncertain about how the data will be used and what potential actions will be taken to address issues that arise from the survey. This workshop is designed as an introduction to climate planning – a more strategic approach that identifies the aspects of organisational climate that best support your organisation’s development – and is a necessary step prior to initiating a climate survey.
Who would benefit?
This workshop is an essential step for the executive team, Strategic HR group or planning committee that is contemplating either a climate survey or other change intervention that will inevitably impact the organisational climate. This workshop would be of particular benefit to organisations who are implementing strategies to become an employer of choice.
Objectives
At the end of the workshop, the group will be able to discuss the ‘accidental climate’ currently experienced in their organisation and identify aspects of a preferred climate that would allow the organisation to thrive in its environment. Delegates will understand the concepts of ‘climate for’ and ‘climate of’ intended and unintended behaviours. They will have reviewed current organisational performance and reward structures and assessed the readiness for change within the organisation in response to potential survey issues. Essentially, the group will develop a series of recommendations in relation to climate interventions that are aligned with the Strategic Plan – which may or may not include a climate survey.
