Executive Leadership

The Executive Development Series provides intensive programs for managers seeking a time effective way to develop knowledge and expertise suited to executive roles.

The five day program is presented in a boardroom style format with capped numbers to facilitate robust and engaging discussion

The program consists of four consecutive days of training plus an additional follow-up day. The date for the additional day is set by group consensus

Objective

The objective of Contemporary Leadership is to enable participants to extend their knowledge and explore new understandings of what it is to lead and be led in today’s global environment.  The areas of recent development extend from practical examples down to the neurological findings concerning our brain and how it matters how it is ‘wired’.

Content

This unit draws upon, reinforces and applies concepts and theories already known to delegates, and introduces new research and practice reports.  Delegates will be challenged to explore a range of strategies that can develop their leadership skills and effectiveness.

A Learning Methodology that follows the latest understanding of adult learning and action learning will be adopted.  There is an abundance of reflective opportunities.

  • Describe and apply theoretical frameworks to understand leadership.
  • Develop the skill of self exploration and reflective practice
  • Explore and analyse important leadership styles - LMX, charismatic, transformational and ethical leadership.
  • Explore and analyse the role of leadership in innovation and entrepreneurialism.
  • Explore and use a range of influence strategies and tactics.
  • Explore and use a range of communication strategies & tactics.
  • Explore the role of the leader in influencing the effectiveness of teams.
  • Explore the nature of strategic leadership and the link between strategic leadership and change, performance, and climate.
