Better Decision Making

Managers and leaders make decisions every day (sometimes all day) and their decisions are scrutinized by the senior executive and by their own team members.  This workshop is about using a logical decision-making framework to improve both the process and others’ reactions. Note the ‘extra mile’ component of this course. This is a serious workshop.

Who will benefit?

Managers across a wide range - from those who are new to leading a team to those who are experiencing increasing challenges of decision making in ambiguous situations, will benefit from this workshop.  For these decision-makers, you are looking for a process that is rational and vigilant, avoids overcomplicating simple challenges yet also avoids oversimplifying complex situations. The workshop explores the tools for flexible decision making options. Delegates are invited to bring a difficult decision scenario - preferably real and current.

Outcomes

At the end of the workshop, delegates will be able to outline the process of decision making, and to apply these steps to identified problems.  They will be able to use the psychology of decision making and know the difference between deferral and procrastination.  They will have gained real skills and greater confidence in their decision making.  At the agreed ‘extra mile’ point (see below), delegates will be applying the skills learned in their work and demonstrate measurable changes in their decision-making in action.

Key topics covered

  • Decision making process steps
  • Recognising and managing personal bias
  • The psychology of decision making
  • Decision making in ambiguity

The extra mile

Our aim is to combine sound research and practical experience with application in your organisation to ensure that the learning is transferred to real situations and used by the participants.  Our facilitators will follow up with delegates at agreed times after the workshop to support, encourage and measure their skill development and application.

Our programs are research-based, results-driven, people friendly

Duration 1 day - plus 10 minutes phone followup per delegate
