Assertiveness - 2 day

This full 2 day course provides participants with guidelines for standing up for themselves without violating the rights of other people. You will develop confidence and understand the impact of the assertive style in defusing problem situations. Assertive behaviour enables you to talk about your needs or ideas and the outcome you would prefer, without arousing defensiveness in the person or group addressed.  The course also helps people who tend to be aggressive and would like to find out how to replace aggressive with assertive.  Depending upon the levels of personal challenges, one of two courses may be more appropriate - a 1 day and a 2 day version.

Who will ‘Assertiveness’ benefit

People who wish to be more confident, positive and cooperative in their approach to others and who wish to improve their ability to influence others.  It is possible to be assertive without being aggressive.

Outcomes of Assertiveness

Participants will be able to:

  • Differentiate between assertive and non assertive behaviour
  • Use and develop additional techniques for being more assertive
  • Employ a belief system which supports their own personal rights and the rights of others
  • Deal with difficult people more effectively
  • Select from alternative approaches to use when voicing ideas and opinions to colleagues and senior managers

All workshops are customized for the particular needs of the organization, so we list general topics and adapt the workshop to suit your requirements.
